Blade Runner VHS Magazine

Both the 1982 movie “Blade Runner” and its 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049” are my favorite pieces of cinema. The original Blade Runner is a gritty futuristic noir set in 2019 in a cyberpunk dystopian Los Angeles, with brutalist corporate high rises and flying cars. Blade Runner 2049 takes place 30 years later, close to matching the gap between when the movies were made. While set 30 years later than the original 1982 movie, it still maintains the retro futuristic elements. I had an idea to take the modern sequel and design retro VHS packaging for it, then took that idea further and constructed a magazine advertisement around it. Both the VHS packaging and magazine layout use design elements inspired from the 80’s while also looking clean and modern.
